We need your help! In honor of #GivingTuesday on November 28, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be matching up to $2 million in donations to nonprofits made through Facebook fundraisers. The gifts will be matched up to $50,000 per nonprofit or $1,000 per fundraiser, until the $2 million in matching funds run out. The match will begin at 8AM EST on Tuesday, November 28.
This means that if you create your own Facebook fundraising page to benefit the Meso Foundation, the money you raise starting on #GivingTuesday can be matched up to $1,000! We’d be honored if you would take this opportunity to support our mission to eradicate mesothelioma and the suffering caused by this cancer.
Setting up a Facebook fundraiser is quick and easy. Below, we provide you with a step-by-step guide that will have your page up and running within minutes.
Step One: Log into your Facebook account and go to facebook.com/fundraisers. You will see a button to “Raise Money.” Click it. Follow the prompt to get started and select “Nonprofit” when asked who you are raising money for.
Step Two: Begin typing “Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation” in the nonprofit search bar, and click on it when it pops up as an option. Be sure to select the correct organization, as others have very similar names.
Step Three: Set a goal amount and select an end date for your fundraiser. Click “Next” to title your fundraiser and add a few sentences about why fundraising for the Meso Foundation is important to you. Click “Next” again to select a cover photo. When you’re finished, click the “Create” button.
Step Four: That’s it! Your Facebook fundraiser is ready to go. Now you can invite friends, share your fundraiser on your newsfeed, or send it in a message to start raising funds to support the Meso Foundation.
The money you raise through your Facebook fundraiser beginning on #GivingTuesday (Tuesday, November 28) will be matched up to $1,000 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to benefit the Meso Foundation!
The Meso Foundation relies on individual gifts. In fact, nearly 70% of our organization’s budget comes from the generosity of individual donors. The gifts you raise through your Facebook fundraiser will directly help patients, scientists and doctors battle mesothelioma on multiple fronts.
